Glorious Morning

Good morning and a very happy Sunday to you all. Today we were woken by the wind and rain battering our bedroom window. We love the connection to the elements that living here provides us, although, we do not look out dreckly to the sea. Our elevated position means that we open to all of the #weather conditions that the #Atlantic #ocean can offer, as it lies just beyond the hill side view from our bedroom. We love it, and have come to realize that the weather can, and will change at the drop of a hat, which makes every morning a #delightful #surprise to wake up to.

Our week began with a test run at putting up our new (to us) #market #gazebo in preparation for #Helston Sunday market next weekend. It will be our third outing at this event. The same amount of times that the event has taken place. We thought it would be a good start to the opening of our gallery, and a good way to meet the Helston and local art and craft lovers. On the two previous times we have taken part in this market we used the gazebos provided by the town council. However, this time we decided to use our own, as we love being outside and hope to fit in many more events and festivals if possible, it's a great way to spend a weekend, we think.

As usually happens on a Tuesday, Tess and Tali went to Newlyn to look after her #grandson Conor. Her daughter #Fabienne has now started back at work as front of house staff at #theOldCoastguard in #Mousehole. Fabienne is glad for the break from nappies, and baby bottles, and Tess loves the opportunity to bond with her grandson. I try to use the time creatively, and enjoy the space to get in the studio and focus on my own personal work. This is not a thing I get much chance to do. There is usually a huge amount of renovations, commissions, and sorting out of studio stuff to do. Not to mention guiding Tess through her journey discovering #clay and all its complications. A thing that none of us mud lovers ever really stop doing, but early years present lots of hurdles to clear, that are greatly helped by the guidance of someone who has been there before. This also helps me hone my teaching skills for our soon to be running pottery workshops. However, it is sometimes really nice to just submerge into ones own head and simply create. I will post some of the results on social media soon but here is a quick glimpse of my 'Of land and sea' project that I've been focusing on in my lone time.

Wednesday saw the first visitors we have had for a long time arrive at the door from back up in the #Cotswolds. Sharon and Carra came with three lovely dog friends and we mostly spent the day chatting about our hopes and aspirations for #GlazedExpression. There was also a good bit of beach walking and a proper take over of the living room by #Dogs! Whilst we entertained the humans in our studio, maintaining social distancing and adhering to Covid restrictions.

We also took delivery of our long anticipated #BilliesWalks #greeting #cards. These are beautifully #photographed #local cards that come with a map and instructions of how to navigate stunning #walks around the area of the #photo on the card. We thought these would be a great idea for locals and tourists who love to explore (with their #dogs) our stunning #county.

Thursday and Friday saw us in full preparation mode for the opening of studio and a gallery. We have tidied, scrubbed and arranged every inch of the spaces in preparation for

#ArtStudiosOpenWestCornwall. We have even managed to get our shop signage nearly done and hope to start putting it in place over the next week. So, if you are passing the gallery, take a look and let us know what you think of the finished lettering.

I will leave you this week with a photo of our beautifully tidy #ceramicStudio.

Tess has been running a give away #competition for our opening on #Facebook and #Instagram and we posed a question to our followers for the chance to win a mug.

Until next week

#Bright #blessings from Tess and I
